Desmond and Ruth Cunningham have been teaching round dancing since 1991 and now have experience in teaching all levels - from basics to phase VI.
They are currently members of RoundaLab, ICBDA, Dixie RDC, Florida RDC, and the Quebec-based BBS&RDA.

Ruth has a strong background in jazz ballet, and Desmond decided many years ago that he, too, wanted dancing to be an important activity in his lifestyle. They have both made a strong commitment to make round dancing (choreographed ballroom dancing) a big priority in their lives.

They have been guests and featured leaders at several festivals in Vermont, New York, Florida and Ontario, as well as in their original hometown, Montreal.

Desmond has taken 2 early retirements: One from the Canadian Air Force, and one from teaching children with learning difficulties. Ruth has also had a variety of working experience: for several years as an occupational therapist, more years as a teacher of intermediate accounting at SGWU, and finally as a mutual fund broker.

A few of their favorite choreographies are: "I'm A Man In Love","Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Tango D'Amor","It Had To Be You", "Band Of Gold","Wonderful Copenhagen", "Light Up My Life", "Annientamento", "Hot Stuff", "A Celtic Melody" and "Tango Fantasia". The appreciation and many certificates of merit they have received over the years from almost every state in America, from Japan and Germany, and lately, from England - all encourage them to continue offering dancers new clinics and more choreography.

They consider themselves to be blessed, and are grateful to have the opportunity to participate in an activity that offers so much enjoyment and true camaraderie.
