Desmond and Ruth Cunningham have been teaching round dancing since 1991 and now have experience in teaching all levels - from basics to phase VI.
They are currently members of RoundaLab, URDC, Dixie RDC, Florida RDC, and the Quebec-based BBS&RDA.

Ruth has a strong background in jazz ballet, and Desmond decided many years ago that he, too, wanted dancing to be an important activity in his lifestyle. They have both made a strong commitment to make round dancing a big priority in their lives.

They have been guests and featured leaders at several festivals in Vermont, New York,Florida and Ontario, as well as in their original hometown, Montreal.

Desmond has taken 2 early retirements: One from the Canadian Air Force, and one from teaching children with learning difficulties. Ruth has also had a variety of working experience: for several years as an occupational therapist, more years as a teacher of intermediate accounting at SGWU, and finally as a mutual fund broker, which she has retired from in the summer of 2006.

Some of their past choreography includes "I'm A Man In Love","Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Tango D'Amor","Tres Palabres", "Band Of Gold","Wonderful Copenhagen", "Light Up My Life", "Annientamento", and "Can't Smile Without You".
"Dream Away" was named "Round of the Month" in 7 states in 1999. "Paint The Town" was chosen "Round Of The Quarter" for the first quarter of 2004, by RoundaLab. "Tango Fantasia" was the phase III runner-up for 15 months - from the 3rd quarter of 2005 to the end of the 3rd quarter of 2006.Their latest for 2007 are "Hot Stuff", Axel Samba", and "A Celtic Melody".

They consider themselves to be blessed, and are grateful to have the opportunity to participate in an activity that offers so much enjoyment and true camaraderie.
